Terms of Service

By accessing or using MarkdownFTW (available at markdownftw.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the service.

MarkdownFTW is a web-based markdown editor and converter. The service processes all content client-side in your browser. We provide tools to edit markdown and export it to various file formats and platform-specific syntax.

Free Tier

The free tier includes 10 PDF exports, unlimited HTML exports, unlimited platform exports (Discord, Slack, Telegram, Reddit, Teams, WhatsApp, GitHub), full editor access, all import formats, and all templates. No account or registration required.

Pro Tier

Pro unlocks Word (DOCX), Excel (XLSX), and PowerPoint (PPTX) exports plus inline preview editing. Pro is available as:

• Monthly subscription — $4.99/month, billed monthly via Stripe
• Lifetime purchase — $29 one-time payment via Stripe

Your Pro license is delivered as a JWT token stored in your browser's localStorage. There is no account system. If you lose your license (e.g., cleared browser data), you can restore it using the email address associated with your Stripe purchase.

All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment information.

Monthly subscriptions may be canceled at any time. You will retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial months.

Lifetime purchases are final. Because MarkdownFTW is a digital product with immediate access, we generally do not offer refunds on lifetime purchases. However, if you experience a technical issue that prevents you from using the service, contact us within 7 days of purchase and we will work with you to resolve the issue or issue a refund.

You retain full ownership of all content you create, edit, import, or export using MarkdownFTW. We never see, access, store, or transmit your content — all processing happens in your browser.

You are solely responsible for the content you create and how you use exported files. Do not use MarkdownFTW to produce content that violates applicable laws or infringes on the rights of others.

MarkdownFTW, including its design, code, branding, and documentation, is the intellectual property of the MarkdownFTW team. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer the service except as permitted by applicable open-source licenses for components published on our GitHub repository.

MarkdownFTW is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without prior notice.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MarkdownFTW and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, profits, or business opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.

Our total liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $29, whichever is greater.

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or its infrastructure
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
• Use automated tools to scrape or overload the service
• Circumvent usage limits or licensing mechanisms
• Resell or redistribute Pro licenses

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the service where practical. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Texas.
